Paula brings over two decades of teaching experience to Medbury, having worked across a range of year levels from New Entrants through to Year 13. Originally from Southland and most recently based in New Plymouth, she spent eight years as Year 7 Dean and Head of Intermediate at Francis Douglas Memorial College. Paula is passionate about creating a positive and energetic classroom environment and values the opportunity to help boys grow into confident young men. A strong advocate for values-based education, she works closely with whānau to build relationships that support student success. Outside the classroom, Paula is deeply involved in rugby, currently managing the New Zealand Secondary Schools Rugby team.
Suzanna joined Medbury in January 2018, having previously taught Year 6 at St Joseph's School in Oamaru. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Otago endorsed with excellence. Working with Young Adults, and specifically, developing leaders, in this age group, is a huge passion of hers and she has been involved in different outreach voluntary programmes throughout Oamaru, Dunedin and Christchurch.
Scott has been at Medbury since 2014. He has been teaching for nine years, in schools in Taranaki, Blenheim and Qatar. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and Philosophy from University of Otago, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Teaching from the Dunedin College of Education.
Alex joined the Year 8 academic staff in January 2020. Alex holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Canterbury and has previously worked at Lomond School in Scotland and Heaton Normal Intermediate, which have provided her with a range of experiences including working in an international boarding school.
Richard joined Medbury in 2016. Prior to this he taught at Ashgrove School in Rangiora for two years. He is originally from Texas and he obtained a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in Public Relations and Spanish from Texas Tech University. Richard then went on to obtain a Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching from Canterbury University.
Kayla joined Medbury in 2022 as a Year 7 teacher, having previously taught at other private schools in Auckland. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Auckland alongside a background in Biological sciences. Kayla is passionate about hands on, integrated learning and finding ways for every student to succeed.
Sarah has been teaching at Medbury since the beginning of 2015, prior to this she worked at Our Lady Star of the Sea School in Sumner. She has taught at various levels from Years 3 to 8 during her teaching career. She has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Education from Canterbury University and a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning.
Penny started at Medbury School in 2022 as a Year 7 teacher, with over 25 years of teaching experience across New Zealand. She has a Bachelor of Education and Psychology and Diploma of Teaching and Learning from Canterbury University. Penny has held many leadership and management roles and is passionate about the Science of Reading, Inclusive Education and boys reaching their potential.
